April is Earth Month and it is a great time to start teaching your kids about why it is important to conserve our natural resources.
This is a fun, interactive topic that you can do slowly over the month. On those days no one really feels like doing anything too serious, pull out our colouring sheets, put on an age appropriate documentary and have a discussion about why we need to look after the Earth.

Our Planet: We absolutely loved this. It took us a while to watch it because each episode led to discussions around the animals we saw. It is a really great documentary to watch with kids of all ages. There is so much to talk about and we have re-watched certain episodes when we have done certain habitats or animals. Each time we have learnt something different.
Down to Earth with Zac Efron: This was a fascinating series. I was sad when it ended because they explored different things and places in a really easy to watch way. It is focused on sustainability and how people across the world and doing things sustainably. I liked that they didn’t focus on the usual places and things and explored some of the lessor known countries and initiatives.
My Octopus Teacher: I will admit my kids initially found this a little boring but the did actually watch the whole thing. It is a fascinating show and pretty cool that it is made by a South African. I love watching shows about the ocean, they are so fascinating. No matter how many we watch, we always learn something new. We do also love watching an octopus move around the ocean floor.
